Artist Statement
Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, I have always been deeply immersed in the rich cultural and artistic heritage of my homeland. My journey as an artist began at the prestigious National Academy of Fine Arts "San Alejandro," where I graduated with a specialty in painting, mastering both oil and acrylic on canvas.
My art practice primarily focuses on oil and acrylic painting, but my skills encompass a wide range of painting techniques. I specialize in realistic and hyper-realistic styles, yet I also explore abstract, surrealist, and expressionist forms depending on the nature of my commissioned work or my own inspiration. My portfolio includes commissioned paintings and murals for various institutions such as restaurants and schools, reflecting my versatility and ability to adapt to different artistic demands.
I am passionate about community work and believe that art should be appreciated and accessible to everyone. This belief drives me to create works that inspire and engage the public. I am committed to using my art to enrich society, fostering a greater appreciation for the arts in general.
Participating in public art projects represents a significant opportunity for me to further my career and gain recognition as a local artist. I am eager to contribute to the cultural landscape of St. Augustine, a city I admire for its beauty and connection to the sea, which resonates deeply with me as an island native. Being part of this project would allow me to share my love for the city and the sea through my art, creating meaningful and inspiring works for the community.
